Boiled Wool Trivet

PDF DOWNLOAD

Inspired by my travels in Scandinavia one winter, this trivet is a simple and quick knit perfect for gifts. First you knit a large square, then felt the item. Felting (also called fulling) creates a very dense fabric that withstands heat and moisture. It can be customized with embroidery, or left plain letting the wooly fibers and texture be the focus.

Skill Level: Beginner

Sizes: 8 inch circle

Yarn: Approximately 75 yards/80 grams of bulky weight yarn

Lambs Pride Bulky (85% wool, 15% mohair; 125 yards/113 grams)

(Sample shown in M-130 Silver Sliver (discontinued) similar colorway: M-003 Grey Heather)

Needles: One 24” (or longer) circular needle or straight needles in size needed to obtain gauge / Suggested size US11 (8mm)

Gauge: 11 stitches and 15.5 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
